 ONA Bylaws Proposals – Convention 2025

THE DEADLINE FOR BYLAWS PROPOSALS HAS PASSED. PROPOSAL SUBMISSION IS CLOSED.

Bylaws Proposals Submission Guidelines 

The 2025 ONA Convention is quickly approaching, and it is time to announce the Call for ONA Bylaws proposals!

Because of the bylaws changes adopted at the 2023 Convention, the process for submitting bylaws proposals and the deadlines have changed. The process of amendment of these Bylaws may be initiated in any of the following three (3) ways:

  1. The elected leadership of any local unit of this organization may vote to present amendments for consideration by the delegates at this organization’s convention.
  2. A majority of the Board of Directors may vote to present amendments for consideration by the delegates at this organization’s Convention.
  3. Thirty percent (30%) or more of the total membership of this organization may present via petition amendments for consideration by the Delegates at this organization’s Delegate Convention.

All proposed amendments must be sent to the Secretary-Treasurer of this organization no later than sixty (60) days prior to the scheduled date of the next Delegate Convention. Bylaws must be submitted no later than August 19, 2025, to be considered. All timely proposed amendments that comply with the requirements of this Article shall be appended to the call for the Delegate Convention no later than forty-five (45) days prior to the date of the convention’s first scheduled day.

How To Submit Bylaws Proposals You can find the current bylaws established at the 2023 ONA Convention HERE. To submit new bylaws, you must submit a redlined copy of an area you would like to recommend for change along with your proposal. Please include the following with the Bylaws Proposal.

  • A red-lined version of the ONA Bylaws that incorporates the proposed changes.
  • The articles and sections of the ONA Bylaws affected by the proposed changes.
  • Name of ONA local, ONA Board, or names of the 30% of members submitting the proposal.
  • An explanation and/or notes to help the Bylaws Committee understand the reasoning for the proposals.
