What Happened to You? A book discussion with implications for practice
- A live-virtual, book-club style discussion about an insightful trauma-informed care book, What Happened to You? Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing
- Learners will be able to share their thoughts and learn about various other resources during this session. Pre-reading of the book not required for attendance. The live discussion is June 22nd at Noon and a recording is planned to be made available.
The Fundamentals of Human Trafficking for Health Care Professionals
Human Trafficking Nursing Education: Discoveries, Insights and Takeaways
- These self-paced courses are recorded-only and will present foundational information about human trafficking, as well as strategies nurses can use to create, implement, and/or advocate for enhanced human trafficking identification and prevention programs in their workplaces.
- The courses will become available by 6/22/22 and registrants will get an email reminder when the courses open.

Lara Wilken, DNP, RN
Dr. Lara Wilken (she/her/hers) coordinates the RN-BSN program at Bowling Green State University, earning her doctorate with a focus on healthcare and human trafficking. She has been educating healthcare providers for the last eight years on human trafficking, developed hospital policy and is co-chair of the Ohio Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Public Awareness Committee.

Alicia Ley, BA
Alicia Ley currently serves the Collaborative to End Human Trafficking as a Program Specialist where she founded and leads the Survivor Advisory Council. Alicia has spent many years advocating and building holistic, trauma- informed programing to support survivors as they journey through healing. It’s these face-to-face relationships, as well as Alicia’s lived experienced, is what fuels her fiery passion to provide accurate and engaging education and awareness to our region. She is fervent about bringing survivors and allies together in order to provide empowering solutions in the fight against human trafficking.
